MyTradePilot

Close to Launch, Still Not Satisfied

·
Update

As of now, MyTradePilot is close to launch.

That sentence feels strange to write.

A month ago, this was an idea in my head and a very ambitious first prompt. Now there is a real product shape: scanner, practice trading, risk controls, portfolio tracking, alerts, backtesting, learning content, certificates, branding, mobile polish, and a much more consistent identity.

We have done multiple launch readiness reviews. We checked the marketing claims so the site does not overpromise. We cleaned up the brand so it does not call itself three different things. We fixed little details, like the guided tour highlight not showing because the color format was wrong. In normal language: the app was trying to draw a spotlight with instructions it could not understand.

We even made the learning section more resilient. If the voice lesson tool runs out of its monthly allowance, the lesson should not break. It should keep going without audio instead of making the user feel stuck.

Those are the kinds of things I never would have thought about before building this.

But I want to be honest: I am still not fully happy with automated trade execution.

That means the part where the app can go from finding a possible trade to actually placing it through the broker connection. We are using a practice trading setup, which mirrors real trading behavior without risking real money. That is the right place to test.

The latest functional review was encouraging. The core loop is there. The app can work with real Alpaca information in the practice environment. It has rules for stops, targets, end-of-day exits, trailing protection, and both upward and downward trade ideas. It has guards, checks, and reconciliation, which means it compares what it thinks is happening against what the broker says is happening.

That is solid progress.

But this is money we are talking about.

Even practice money needs to be treated seriously, because practice habits become real habits. I do not want to launch something that gives people a false sense of control. I would rather say, "Everything else is ready, and we are still being careful with automation," than rush and regret it.

That was exactly what I told Lovable before one of the final reviews: I am still not happy with our automated trade execution system, but I want everything else ready to go.

That is where we are.

The brand is locked: MyTradePilot, with my name attached, Joey Bess AAMS®. The look is darker and more premium, but we have tried to keep the language plain. The app has an Academy side so users can learn instead of just push buttons. The scanner and scoring system are far more thoughtful than where we started.

And yet, I still have my hand near the brake.

I think that is healthy.

One of the biggest lessons of this whole project is that confidence and caution can live together. I can be proud of what we have built and still say, "Not yet," on the most sensitive piece.

That does not mean failure.

It means respect for the problem.

MyTradePilot is close. Very close.

But close is not the same as careless.
